Why does your animal need a massage?
The Short Answer:
Because you love your animals and you want to do things for them that will improve their health and happiness.
The Long Answer:
In addition to being a very nice thing to do for them, massage may help improve your animal's health!
Is your animal an athlete? Massage may help improve performance by taking the tension out of stiff muscles, increasing flexibility and improving circulation to help keep the tissues oxygenated.
Breathing problems? Massage has been shown to improve asthma and helps release muscle tension around the lungs allowing them to draw more air.
Digestion issues? Massage has been shown to increase gut motility and can increase the absorption of nutrients and help ease constipation.
Anxiety? Massage helps relax anxious animals.
Medical conditions? Massage reduces edema, helps relieve pain, increases circulation and may reduce recovery time after surgery.
According to the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, "Massage therapy is a very natural form of complementary medicine with a wide range of practical benefits. It is known to promote relaxation, improve blood circulation, relieve muscle pain, tension, and fatigue, relieve stiffness and improve mobility, and, in general, promote good health and a feeling of well-being."
